Look up an Arkansas plate

See whether other drivers have filed reports against a plate.

A plate with no reports comes back clean — that is the common result, and it is not an error.

Avoidance & safety rules

Does a Jerk Alert report reach the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration? No — Jerk Alert filings are community records between drivers. They never reach the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, any other government body, or law enforcement, and they do not replace the calls in sections 1 and 2. If you are in danger, call 911. The Terms prohibit following, approaching, or identifying another driver on any Jerk Alert platform.

Arkansas bad driver reporting & safety guide

1. If it is happening now immediate danger

Emergency hotlines

  • 911 — for a driver who is an active danger to other people right now. That is a police matter, and no app is a substitute for the call.
  • No Arkansas-specific line is listed here. We publish a patrol code only when a state police or DOT page carries it.

2. Reporting to Arkansas law enforcement after the fact

Neither the hotlines above nor anything in this section is the licence-review route in section 3, and nothing filed on Jerk Alert reaches any of them.

Who takes the report in Arkansas

  • The non-emergency line of the Arkansas municipal police department or county sheriff’s office with jurisdiction where it happened takes reports of dangerous driving that has already happened.
  • Bring: the plate (full or partial) and state, the vehicle’s make, model and colour, the location, the date and time, the direction of travel, and what you saw.
  • Expect a record rather than a ticket. An officer who did not witness the driving usually cannot cite for it, and what each agency acts on varies.

3. State DMV & licensing agency review

Public reporting accessNo — only relatives, police or medical professionals can report a driver

The route exists, but only for people connected to the driver.

Who can file: “Law Enforcement, Medical Professionals, Motor Vehicle Administrations and concerned relative” — printed on the form and on the DFA Driver Improvements page. An unrelated witness is not on the list, and neither surface gives one a route.

What information do I need to report a driver?

  • Section 4 of the form makes attendance a signed undertaking: the requestor declares they will be informed by mail of the date, time and location of the initial evaluation and are required to attend.
  • All information submitted must be of personal knowledge or observation, and the form asks you to be as specific as possible about the medical, vision and mental conditions of the driver and to include all supporting documents possible.
  • The age of the driver will not be taken into consideration. Referrals must only be made in the interest of public safety and not due to age alone.
  • The declaration in Section 4 is made under penalties of perjury, and the form asks for the requestor's own name, driver's licence number, date of birth, telephone number and address.

Will the driver find out who reported them?

Arkansas offers a family filer no confidentiality in practice: the request cannot be anonymous, it is signed under penalties of perjury, and an immediate family member who requests an evaluation is required to attend the driver's initial evaluation. Neither the form nor the Driver Improvements page says whether the driver is told who filed. What the agency does say is that the final determination will not be released to the person who reported the driver.

What can the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration do after a report?

  • Where the Office of Driver Services has good cause to believe a licensed driver is incompetent or otherwise not qualified to be licensed, it may require the driver to submit to an initial evaluation by a Driver Control Hearing Officer.
  • Based on the information provided, the driver may be required to have a medical evaluation and/or retake all or part of the driver's licence exam. Under § 27-16-909 the hearing officer may instead find that the initial evaluation does not support suspension or revocation, in which case the licence stays in effect; where an evaluation is ordered, the driver has 30 days to provide proof of completion.
  • Once the required evaluations are in, the Office of Driver Services may suspend or revoke the licence, permit the driver to keep it, or issue a licence subject to restrictions as permitted under Ark. Code § 27-16-804.

Statutory authority: Ark. Code Ann. § 27-16-909 (suspension or revocation of a licence for inability to drive — the good-cause initial evaluation, the evaluations the hearing officer may order, and the outcomes), with licence restrictions under § 27-16-804.

Arkansas is one of 18 of 51 US jurisdictions where a witness unrelated to the driver has no confirmed way to report them to the licensing agency (the 51-location study). That gap is one reason Jerk Alert exists.
