Who may file, and what it takes

• The Office of Driver Services publishes an Initial Evaluation / Family Member Request Form, but the Driver Improvement guidelines restrict who may submit it: law enforcement officers, medical professionals, motor vehicle administrations, and concerned or immediate family members. An unrelated member of the public cannot file it.
• Where an immediate family member submits the request, that family member must attend the initial driver evaluation hearing in person, alongside the driver they reported.
• Driver Services will only consider reports based on PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE OR OBSERVATION, and will not investigate a report based solely on the driver's age.

What the agency can do

• ODS can require an evaluation by a Driver Control Hearing Officer after receiving a report of a potentially unsafe driver.
• Depending on the situation ODS could require a medical evaluation or require the driver to retake part or all of the driver's licence exam.
• ODS can place restrictions or conditions on a licence where there is good cause.

What an Erk Score means

An Erk Score is a plate’s running rating from 0.0 to 5.0, computed from the reports filed against it and weighted by whether the reporter is verified. Endorsements from other drivers are counted on the report itself and do not change the score. Deleted and hidden reports are excluded, so a score only reflects reports currently standing.
